mebuyan peace project

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

I have a confession to make. As much as I hate to be a groupie but honestly, lately i have become a groupie of this really cool all girl band called the mebuyan peace project.

I first saw this group when I was in my first year of college. However, I never really get to hear their songs or maybe my mindset then was more on the adult alternative music of the likes of Bic Runga, Sarah Mclachlan, Alanis Morisette and Tori Amos, and not to mention jewel when she was still into good songs.

But lately, I saw a new fad of my groupie character. Mebuyan Peace Project is the type of band that I would have a tattoo of for desperate measures.

I just could not imagine that this group could catch my could and put it in a glass bottle with no wholes to breathe with.

My favorite song that really grabbed my heart was “Kalinga”. The melody of the song made me think of life of pixies. I could imagine a pixie inside a rotten papaya fruit surrounded by hundred and hundreds of maggots.

In other words, the melody can bring a person into this spell and it doesn’t stop with the last note of the composition. The spell goes on into one persons head.

When I browse for the lyrics in the internet because all I could understand at that moment when I saw the band sing was the word “Hilom”, which in Visaya means “shut up”, I realize that the song was more to spells and pixies.

I don’t know abput you guys but is I were you I would stop listening to mainstream pop songs and listen to this band instead.

i love this song!

KALINGA

lyrics: Malou Tiangco, Geejay Arriola

music: Geejay Arriola

Anak kaya, o kapatid

Ako ngayo’y sa iyong panig

Pakawalan bigat ng dibdib

Ibuhos mo ang iyong hinagpis

O hilom hilom hilom hilom hilom na

Ako ngayo’y sa iyong panig

Tayo ngayo’y isang bigkis

Iyong iparinig

Diwa mo’y ipahiwatig

O hilom hilom hilom hilom hilom na

Ang puso ko ay umaawit ng isang himig

Sumasabay sa kumpas ng iyong dibdib

Iyong mga iyak ay aking naririnig

Tahan na, tahan na, tahan na

Hehehe huhuhu hehehehe hehehehe

hehe hu hehe hu hehe hu

manny = money

Indeed, featherweight superstar Manny Pacquaio (43-3-2, 33 KOs) fight against Erik Morales (48-5, 24 KOs) last Saturday brought Filipino and foreign audiences watching live in Las Vegas and on television a mixture of excitement and boredom. What would be more nerve racking than having to watch a match which was commercially advertise in a couple of months end in just three rounds? Obviously, the audiences where not satisfied. They wanted more from these two boxing champions considering that they both worked hard on their training as seen in updates before the fight in television.
However, considering Morales’ physical aura in the first round, one could immediately assume that he would not last a round or two. It was quite obvious that Morales was the mediocre player base on his body structure and energy level. Nevertheless, there is also a strong possibility that the game would not have ended that quickly. And that possibility would have been realized if Manny Pacquaio decided to play on the crowd more and give his audience more time to increase their stakes. If this was the case, Pacman would not have left his elite fans disfavored and he would have had more share of the stake than what he had. After all, money is more important than ego, right?
On the other side of the coin, if Pacman decided to end the game at the last rounds for instance, he would have dishonored himself a little considering the fact that Morales was obviously not in his best disposition that day. He would have disfavored the masses and favored the elite fans. Either ways, if he chose to prolonged the match or stick to the knock out on the third round, he is still opt to have all the fame and glory. After all, Morales obviously does not have the chance to win that match at all. But bare in mind, it is a game and you know what they say, “it ain’t over ’till the fat lady sings!”. We never no maybe luck would start to scratch Morales on the last rounds and win the game, instead.
